1. What do you love about what you do as a midwife?

In addition to working with Dr Grant Saffer, I work in delivery suites and that’s probably where I get my main buzz, being involved in looking after women in labour and delivering babies. I still get a buzz from delivering every baby that’s born! It’s a very rewarding job, and challenging which I like because things can go wrong very quickly.

2. When might your patients benefit from also seeing a dietitian?

Probably those who are trying to get pregnant or have weight issues because they are overweight or have had eating disorders or are very underweight and having issues putting on weight. Women who are iron deficient would also benefit as a dietitian can advise on how to achieve a diet high in iron. And I think those with gestational diabetes would also benefit from seeing a dietitian.

3. As all dietitians are foodies at heart…we would love to know, what is the one item that can always be found in your pantry?

Besides the wine…olive oil and tomatoes.
