Since the release of my book, the amount of media work that I’ve been doing has significantly increased. After being told by two different people in the one week that I have very few professional photographs for someone who does as much media work as I do, I took the message and contracted Jane Hayes, the owner of Jane Hayes consulting to organise a photographer and made me look good! (I blame the fact that I’m a country girl that I’m happier in jeans and a t-shirt than in a shopping mall).

Let me tell you, Jane and her team were amazing! She has an incredible eye for putting outfits together and she found combinations in my wardrobe which I would have never come up with, but look like I should have! She tells me that in addition to her photo shoots she also works as a personal shopper and stylist for individuals and develops business initiatives for fashion designers and fashion shows.

Let me share with you three of the top tips that I learnt from her:

1. Always dress to suit your body shape

If you’re a triangular body shape (wider in the hips than shoulders) balance your silhouette with dark coloured bottoms and bright attention-grabbing tops, whereas if you have a round body shape, lengthen your shape by dressing in one colour, head to toe, and use colour for accessories only

2. Accessorise every outfit

Even jeans! Dress up jeans by adding a well cut blazer and a great piece of jewellery

3. Your waist is a woman’s best asset

To create feminine curves, accentuate your waist using a stylish belt

To do: So, my message is this: if you’ve been feeling a bit frumpy lately and need a ‘pick me up’ or you want to learn how to dress to suit your body shape, give Jane a call (see www.janehayesconsulting.com.au). She is worth every last cent. Hope you enjoy the photos…
